Call for submissions for the literary journal Azuria

A special issue of the literary journal Azuria will be launched at the next Baltic Studies conference, to be held Fri. 12 – Sunday 14 October 2018, at Deakin University (Waterfront Campus, Geelong). This project is being supported by a small grant from the Estonian Community.

The organising committee for AABS is chaired by Dr. Delaney Skerrett, Hon. Consul for Estonia (Qld). He urges Australian-Estonian writers to contribute, saying, ‘Here is an excellent opportunity to contribute interesting essays & new stories, selections from family or community memoirs, and to see your work published & distributed throughout Australia and overseas.’

The editor of Azuria is Dr. E (Ted) Reilly, who has set out to build bridges between Geelong’s literary community & the wider world, publishing writers from his city & Australia, as well as from places as far distant as China, Chile, Germany and even the Baltic region.

Any of the following forms of writing will be considered: short stories or extracts from novels, essays, and memoirs (1000 – 5000 words) as well as photographs and artwork, and poetry in English or in Estonian, with English translation.

Writers submitting their writing should first make contact with Dr. E. Reilly, on M: 0421 559 592, or by e-mail at

A call for conference papers is being issued separately.

Copies of the current issue, Azuria#7: Madonna, can be purchased by sending a cheque or money order for $20 to “Geelong Writers inc.”, PO Box 1306, Geelong VIC. 3220, with your postal address included.
